Double Header Sweep for Todd Lamb and AMG in New Jersey
Jun 20, 2009 12:37 PM
"What
a great weekend for the AMG team!” Lamb said. "I'm
really fortunate to have the opportunity to work with
such a dedicated and experienced crew. They really
nailed the setup on the car and made my job easy in
the driver's seat."
Lamb's AMG teammate, Brett Smrz, qualified second for Saturday's race before mechanical issues forced him to retire from the race. In Sunday's race Smrz came through the field to finish sixth after contact from another car on the start.
"We're really pleased with our performance this weekend,” AMG Team Owner Jason Hoover said. “Todd did a great job maximizing points for the championship. Brett (Smrz) had a great run through the field on Sunday, and for him it was a good learning experience that will pay off in future races. We're disappointed that Bob (Michaelian) couldn't make it due to flight cancellations. We're already looking forward to Barber."
After factoring in the drop of the lowest event points, Lamb now leads the points standings over Team MER's Marc Miller by 14 points with six races remaining in the series.
Round Five of the series is July 17-19 at Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, Ala. Lamb will be competing in both KONI Challenge and MX-5 Cup at the event. Races are available to view a few weeks after each event on YouTube.
